Just when I was looking for a dreamy feminine photographer for mood photos I stumbled upon a blog called Joygirls which led me to Ari Seg’s photography facebook page. While looking through her photos I saw her beautiful style for capturing subtle moments of feminine mystique and it entranced me.

I reached out to her and she told me that she lived in Spain but that she would love to shoot a lookbook! So I made her a package of bikinis and sent her a few accessories and told her to do whatever she wanted. She gathered a couple of friends on a sunny afternoon and created some magic in her backyard and then she sent me the lovely results. Ari uses analog film cameras and uses real girls for models to fully express the beauty in imperfection, for me this is the mark of an artist in photography.

This kind of project that was done through the mail and very freely and naturally reminded me of the magical long lost pen pal experience. So we themed the photos as 2 friends that may have met a summer before on holiday and kept in touch during the year and then got together again the next summer to relive the nostalgia of that fist special encounter.

I am happy to have made a pen pal friend and to discover the work of the wonderful Ari Seg.
